After a nearly flawless game against the Eagles in Week 6, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week.
Week 6 was very good for Kirk Cousins. The Minnesota Vikings quarterback had his way with the Philadelphia Eagles, hitting numerous long passes and picking up multiple first downs on the way to a 38-20 victory.
Cousins worked the field masterfully, connecting on 22 of his 29 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those scores went to Stefon Diggs, who accumulated 167 yards on just seven catches while Adam Thielen hauled in one score on six catches for 57 yards.
The one lone blemish on his stat line came on a pass which bounced off the helmet of Diggs and was intercepted by former Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo. Aside from that and absorbing one sack, fans couldn’t have asked for anything better from Cousins.
His performance didn’t go unnoticed by the NFL, who nominated him for the FedEx Air Player of the Week. You can vote for the winner on the NFL’s website or in a tweet from the league’s official Twitter account.
It’s easy to see that Cousins threw the most touchdowns of any of the candidates. However, both Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and Jets passer Sam Darnold had higher yardage outputs than Minnesota’s signal-caller.
Still, there is no denying the day that Kirk Cousins had. Darnold and Murray both had great days as well and any of the three would make a deserving FedEx Air Player of the Week, but there is just something redeeming and wonderful about Kirk’s efforts.
Voting is open now! In addition to the voting for Kirk Cousins for FedEx Air Player of the Week, you can also vote for Ground Player of the Week for Week 6. While The Viking Age would love for you to vote for the Vikings quarterback, you should choose whoever you feel is most worthy of the award.
Best of luck to Kirk Cousins!
