Dalvin Cook – RB

Dalvin Cook is having a monster season so far. He’s been the heart and soul of the Vikings offense and has had some electrifying runs that are truly amazing to behold. His rare blend of speed, quickness, and power has gained him 583 yards on the ground with six touchdowns already on the season. He’s been better than anyone expected and the Vikings will need that to continue this week.

The Vikings go to Detroit and will be playing in a hostile environment. Getting the run game going will be key for the Vikings. Not only will a competent run game keep the Lions dangerous offensive weapons off the field, but it will keep the Vikings defense fresh and grind down the clock. If the Vikings are able to move the ball on the ground consistently this week, it will also take the fans out of the game and level the playing field.

Cook is coming off a down game for him against the Eagles. They have a tough front seven and Cook ran for just 41 yards against it. He’ll be itching and extra motivated to have a big game this week. He really should too. The Lions rush defense is 27th in the NFL, and they give up about 133 yards a game on the ground. The holes should be there for Cook this Sunday, and if he is able to exploit them, the Vikings should find themselves with their first division win of the season.
