The best thing

It would be easy to say that Kirk Cousins keeps proving to people that he’s not a liability in the Minnesota Vikings offense. But there are just some things he can do better than a lot of other quarterbacks in the league, and play action is one of them.

The Lions were committed to stopping Dalvin Cook. While that’s an admirable strategy, they struggled to slow down the running back despite focusing on him. Plus, that made them vulnerable to deep plays, and Cousins didn’t miss many of those.

The balance of run and pass was masterfully done, rushing 37 times and passing 34. But the continuing success of Cousins throwing the football will be keeping opposing defenses honest in future games, and that should have Cook licking his lips.

Through the air and on the ground, Minnesota had a total of 503 yards of offense. The Lions may have been a bit beat up this week but that’s still an impressive number of yards to put up against a division rival.
