Minnesota Vikings MVPs: Week 7 vs. Detroit Lions
By Adam Carlson
Offensive MVP – Kirk Cousins
This marks three weeks in a row that fans have seen the “good” version of Kirk Cousins. Earlier this season, it didn’t look like the quarterback would be able to handle the pressure of this season, but now it appears as though he could be a reason the Minnesota Vikings go far.
Cousins completed 24 of his 34 pass attempts for 337 yards and four touchdowns in Week 7, good for a quarterback rating of 141.4. Each of those scores went to a different pass catcher, spreading the ball around and keeping Detroit’s defense guessing.
Even more impressive was the play-action game. Cousins is great at using play-action to set up passes and he used that to pick apart the Lions defense. And, since he was given time by the offense line, he was able to go through his looks and deliver the ball well.
Of course, it’s hard to know if Cousins can keep up this pace. When he is good, the Vikings look unstoppable. Combining his good games with the great play of Dalvin Cook is going to give defenses fits in the future if he can keep it up!
