Defensive MVP – Eric Kendricks, linebacker
This is getting to be a bit of a habit for Eric Kendricks to be the defensive MVP of the Minnesota Vikings. This is no fluke since he’s arguably playing the best football of his career and could be debated as being the best middle linebacker in the league right now.
Once again, Kendricks led the Vikings in tackles, notching seven on the day with three of them solo. He has been surefire in his takedowns this season and is well on his way to a Pro Bowl appearance and possible All-Pro nod.
Kendricks continues to showcase his skills in coverage as well. This game, he added another pass defense to his stats. With Minnesota only defending five total passes on the day, it’s nice to see a linebacker get one of them.
The skills that Kendricks showcases on a weekly basis open up the rest of the Minnesota defense to do other things like rush the passer, drop back in coverage, or play the line of scrimmage. His value cannot be replaced, and he should keep showing up in the weekly MVP pieces every week.
