The Minnesota Vikings will have their hands full on Sunday (even without Patrick Mahomes) as they take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

When the Minnesota Vikings had their schedule released back in April, the Week 9 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs was a game that fans on both sides had circled.

A matchup of the Vikings’ stingy defense going head-to-head with the Chiefs’ explosive offense mixed in with one of the league’s most raucous environments inside Arrowhead Stadium and you had a game that could be considered one of the biggest marquee matchups this season.

Unfortunately, some of the stars haven’t quite aligned for this one. Although there’s a shot that star Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes will play, that will depend on how he looks in practice this week and whether the Chiefs are willing to risk further injury so far away from the playoffs. In addition, many of the Chiefs have found themselves on the injury report, which should give the Vikings an advantage.

That doesn’t mean that there won’t be any interesting matchups to watch on Sunday. With several big names playing on both sides of the ball, there will be plenty that will decide if Minnesota is heading to Dallas next week with a 7-2 record and in prime position for a playoff spot or if next week’s trip to Jerry’s World will be a must-win in order to keep a solid season going.
