Dan Bailey – K

A lot of players on this list of scary Vikings are because of their impressive physical stature. That is not the case here. Dan Bailey is one of the scariest Vikings on the team because he is wildly inconsistent, and fans never quite know what they are going to get when he comes out to attempt a field goal.

Bailey is coming off a season where he hit a dismal 75 percent of his field goals. That grave performance was towards the bottom of all kickers in the NFL last season. He won the job in the preseason as he suddenly got hot when the team traded for Kaare Vedvik.

Bailey started the year off shaky, as he had a badly missed field goal in Green Bay as well as an extra point attempt. He bounced back the next few weeks and he began to earn back some Vikings fans’ trust.

In Week 7 against Detroit, Bailey had a very important 45-yard attempt. The Lions crept back into the game and the kick would’ve made it a two-score lead for the Purple. He shanked it, and the kick wasn’t even close as it wobbled left of the goal post. Just like that Bailey’s trust with fans was shattered.

Though against the Redskins the dude was automatic hitting all four field goals, with relative ease. He is like the creepy witch in the woods that lures you into her house with candy, only to turn on you after and attempt to eat you after you get fattened up.

Moving forward every Vikings fan and coach should feel a sense of dread when Bailey lines up to kick a field goal. The dread will increase tenfold if the kick is in a crucial part of a game. It’s an extremely frightening thing to watch because Bailey has been very unreliable, and the history of the Vikings kickers and missed kicks haunts Vikings fans to this day.
