James Proche – WR (SMU)

at #24 Memphis

  • Where: Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, TN
  • TV: ABC

Before I mention another receiver, I know the Vikings have Bisi Johnson taking over as a solid third option. Still, depth and talent are hard to come by. That said, I think it makes plenty of sense for the Vikings to target another weapon on Day 2 or early on Day 3 of the draft. SMU standout James Proche is a perfect NFL slot in my opinion. Proche, like Philyor, is dominating his opponents. His 61 catches rank third in the country and he is fifth in the nation with 9 receiving touchdowns.

Proche is one of the best slot guys in college football thanks to his quick feet and body control. He can lose his defender early and isn’t afraid to make a tough catch over the middle. Proche also has strong hands and is incredible in traffic.

SMU has some stud wide receivers in the NFL: Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley, Courtland Sutton, and Trey Quinn. They have two more that should be in the NFL soon. Reggie Roberson and James Proche are one of the best duos in college football. Give them a watch this weekend.

Prediction

SMU travels to play a top-25 team in Memphis. In 2018, Proche caught 12 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns against Memphis in a losing effort. Proche will be a vital part of the offense once again and will need to make plays if they want to pull off a big win. However, his night may be a bit more difficult than he is accustomed to because of this next guy.
