Minnesota’s specialists had a big impact on the results

For the first time in a while, the Vikings haven’t really had problems with their top specialists this season. Punter Britton Colquitt has proven to be a great addition to Minnesota’s roster and kicker Dan Bailey has already earned two NFC Special Teams Player of the Week awards this year.

But luckily for the Vikings, Bailey and Colquitt picked Sunday’s game against the Chiefs to have some of their worst moments of the season.

First, it was Bailey who missed an extra point try after a Minnesota touchdown in the third quarter. If he makes this kick, Kansas City likely has to try score a touchdown late in the fourth quarter instead of settling for a 54-yard field goal to tie the game.

After Bailey’s miss, Colquitt decided it was his turn to help out the Chiefs when he delivered a terrible 27-yard punt to the Vikings’ own 45-yard line with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Minnesota’s punter had been doing well for most of the afternoon, but this punt is something that actually ended up leading to Kansas City getting the win.

Bailey and Colquitt both had a few impressive moments on Sunday. However, it will be their mistakes that stick out the most from the Vikings’ loss to the Chiefs.
