Trevon Diggs – CB (Alabama)

vs. #2 LSU

  • When: Saturday, November 9 at 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Where: Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, AL
  • TV: CBS

Let’s stay in Tuscaloosa, shall we? Cornerback Trevon Diggs has been excellent this season, especially over the last few weeks.

Diggs is the younger brother of Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs, so his name will certainly be on their radar. In fact, Trevon arrived at Alabama as a wide receiver, but he moved to cornerback after his freshman season. He played sparingly in each of his first three years at the school before he emerged as a key factor in 2019.

His wide receiver background is showing up more than ever this season. Diggs had one career interception coming into his senior year and through eight games this season, he already has three picks and two fumble recoveries. He has two defensive touchdowns on the season, both coming in Alabama’s last two games.

Diggs has incredible length, athleticism, and ball skills. Minnesota does have question marks at cornerback as they move forward and they also have Stefon Diggs under contract.

Drafting the talented Alabama corner could be a no-brainer move if he lasts long enough in the first round. He is currently projected to land in the middle of the first round, but the Vikings always have the option to trade up if need be. The Diggs brothers could be the future of the Twin Cities.

Prediction

LSU has a Heisman candidate and potential first overall draft pick in quarterback Joe Burrow. Their passing attack is explosive, featuring Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase who have exploded onto the scene this season. Diggs and the Alabama secondary have to find ways to force turnovers.
