Smith’s injury is pretty frightening
Injuries are part of every season and so far, the Vikings have been fortunate enough to not be hit incredibly hard with player injuries. Minnesota has had a few of their top guys miss games due to injury this year, but most of these players are expected to be out on the field when they return from their bye in Week 13.
One injury that should worry the Vikings though is one that happened during Sunday’s win over the Broncos. Near the end of the matchup, Minnesota safety Harrison Smith had to leave the field with an injured hamstring and it prevented him from playing in the rest of the game.
Considering a hamstring injury has already caused Adam Thielen to miss almost five total contests this season, Smith’s injury this week should raise the concern levels for the Vikings.
The veteran safety is a huge part of Minnesota’s defense and he is arguably what keeps the unit glued together. Mike Zimmer can ask Smith to do just about anything out on the field and not having him for any sort of time this year could be a big blow to a Vikings defense that has already been struggling recently.
Luckily, Minnesota is entering their bye week so this will give their veteran safety time to heal. But, unfortunately, it still wouldn’t be surprising if Smith’s injury causes him to miss some of the Vikings’ upcoming games.
