Stefon Diggs – WR

Earlier this year, Stefon Diggs created a bit of drama when he skipped out a on a practice and didn’t seize an opportunity to quiet some rumors about him wanting out of Minnesota. Everything seems fine with Diggs and the Vikings right now, but don’t think that there hasn’t been any damage done.

Other teams are likely going to be calling Minnesota during the upcoming offseason to see what it would take to land the talented receiver and with the Vikings in desperate need of cap space, they are probably going to consider dealing Diggs if the right offer comes along.

For 2020, both Diggs and fellow Minnesota receiver Adam Thielen are scheduled to have cap hits of at least $12.5 million. Based on how the Vikings salary cap situation is looking heading into the upcoming offseason, it doesn’t make a ton of sense for the team to have almost $25 million of their cap space going towards two wide receivers in 2020.

With Dalvin Cook becoming more of a centerpiece for Minnesota’s offense and the talented class of receivers that is expected to be available in the 2020 NFL Draft, it makes even less sense.

Of course, the Vikings would love to keep their talented receiving duo together for next season. But thanks to their terrible cap situation, they might not have much of a choice other than splitting them up.
