With the Green Bay Packers falling to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night, the Minnesota Vikings are now tied for first place in the NFC North.

There was not a game on the schedule for the Minnesota Vikings this week. However, the Vikings still managed to move up in the NFC North standings thanks to the results of Sunday night’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers.

In this Week 12 showdown between two divisional leaders, the 49ers had no trouble at all getting a 37-8 win over the Packers.

Green Bay’s record now moves to 8-3 after the loss, which just happens to be the same exact record as Minnesota’s as well. So thanks to San Francisco’s work on Sunday night, the Vikings are now tied with the Packers for first place in the NFC North.

Unfortunately, Minnesota lost their Week 2 matchup with Green Bay earlier this year, so the Packers currently hold the tiebreaker if the season ended after this week. But, obviously, it doesn’t and both teams still have five games left to decide who will end 2019 on top of the NFC North.

After a tough road matchup against the Seattle Seahawks next Monday, the Vikings will finish the year with three of their final four games at home inside U.S. Bank Stadium, a place where they have yet to lose this season.

As for Green Bay, only two of their remaining five contests will take place on their home field and they will close out the year with a pair of road matchups against Minnesota in Week 16 and the Detroit Lions in Week 17.

During each of the last five seasons in which Minnesota had at least eight wins after their first 11 games, they went on to win their division. Will the Vikings be able to keep the trend going this year?
