Friday kicks off a long weekend of football. Some of the most iconic rivalries in college football are played on Black Friday, including this matchup in Virginia.

Virginia Tech safety Reggie Floyd is a leader of the Hokie defense. In the last three seasons, Floyd has 209 tackles and five interceptions. His production in 2019 has dropped a bit since last year, but his presence and flexibility on defense make him a considerable Day 3 option.

He plays in a bit of a box-safety role with the ability to cover on the back end when needed. As a sophomore in 2017, Floyd tallied three interceptions and one pick-six. He also forced two fumbles and deflected one pass.

In 2018, Floyd had the best season of his career. He recorded 80 tackles and 9.5 TFLs. He added two more interceptions and a pass deflection.

Now, as a senior, Floyd is looking to cement his name as an NFL-caliber defender. While he only has 57 tackles and zero takeaways on the season, he does have a career-best seven pass deflections.

He has shown his ability to adjust and adapt to the defense. He should be able to carve out a role in the NFL. At the very least, Floyd will be an excellent special teams player.

The Vikings do not have Anthony Harris or Jayron Kearse under contract for 2020 so they could look to find a replacement for them in next year’s draft.
