Minnesota Vikings Week 13 Injury Report: One starter out vs. Seahawks
By Adam Carlson
Who will either miss the game or be questionable for the Week 13 game between the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks on Monday night?
The Minnesota Vikings are coming off their bye week and face a massive challenge in Week 13 when they travel to the Emerald City in hopes of defeating the surging Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
In what should be a very hard-fought game between two teams with high hopes for the playoffs, Minnesota will need as much help as possible from the players on the field, which means hopefully the banged-up team will look fresh and rested in action.
Let’s take a look at the injury report for the game between the two team’s as shared on the official website of the purple and gold:
Minnesota Vikings
RULED OUT
- Ben Gedeon, linebacker – concussion
DOUBTFUL
- – none –
QUESTIONABLE
- Anthony Harris, safety – groin
- Linval Joseph, defensive tackle – knee
- Harrison Smith, safety – hamstring
- Shamar Stephen, defensive tackle, knee
- Adam Thielen, wide receiver – hamstring
With Gedeon sidelined, Eric Wilson will likely get the start at linebacker. He has shown the ability to step in when needed and make plays when needed and the team shouldn’t see much drop off, especially since Minnesota spends a lot of time in nickel defenses.
Upgrading Joseph to questionable it good, but having both starting defensive tackles should be a little concerning. Minnesota’s defense needs those big men in the middle to contain the run and get pressure up the middle.
The best news is that Thielen hasn’t been ruled out quite yet. This adds to the hope that he can return to the offense and contribute against a tough Seattle team in a game which could be a major factor in determining playoff seeding.
Seattle Seahawks
RULED OUT
- – none –
DOUBTFUL
- Nick Bellore, fullback – quadriceps
- Neiko Thorpe, cornerback – groin
QUESTIONABLE
- Jadeveon Clowney, defensive end – core
- Mychal Kendricks, linebacker – hamstring
- Jarran Reed, defensive tackle – ankle
- Luke Willson, tight end – hamstring
- Al Woods, defensive tackle – ankle
Many of the big names from the Seahawks injury report during the week were not given designations on the final report. Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, and Josh Gordon all appear ready to suit up for Seattle in this big game.
If Clowney can’t go for this game, Minnesota’s offensive line should breathe a little easier. He is a pass-rushing machine and can be an impact player who disrupts and pressures opposing offenses.
Thankfully, the injury report has cleared up quite a bit for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13, but it still has quite a few important names on it. Hopefully, the purple and gold can overcome their nagging ailments and leave Seattle with a big win.
