5 Bold Predictions: Vikings vs. Seahawks – Week 13
By Chris Schad
Vikings will win a shootout in Seattle
If you like good, old-fashioned defense (shout out to Mike Zimmer), this game may not be for you. Both teams have made marked improvements over the past year and while last year’s game between the Vikings and Seahawks may have put everyone to sleep, there should be more points on the board in what could be a shootout.
Both Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins are playing at MVP-levels and the running battle pitting Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison against Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny should make this a back-and-forth battle for playoff position in the NFC.
With the Green Bay Packers taking care of the New York Giants on Sunday, this game will be huge for the Vikings to keep pace and potentially take home the NFC North title. In addition, Monday’s matchup will also be big for NFC playoff seeding as the winner could move into the fifth seed and draw a matchup with a reeling Dallas Cowboys or Philadelphia Eagles team as opposed to a trip to New Orleans or Green Bay.
Even without the services of Thielen, the Vikings are a team capable of putting up points. It may be a little more difficult, but the combination of Cousins and the running game should allow Minnesota to control the game if they take an early lead and ride it out for a crucial victory in the NFC playoff picture.
Prediction: Vikings 34, Seahawks 31
