Offensive MVP – Honorable Mentions

This was a tough game offensively for the Vikings. The team was without Adam Thielen, who is nursing a hamstring injury. Plus, running back Dalvin Cook left the game after hurting what seemed to be a shoulder.

Still, some players stepped up during this game when help was needed…and they weren’t the players most would have expected to pick up the slack.

Even though these players weren’t named the MVP, here are some honorable mentions for the award:

  • Alexander Mattison – running back: When Cook left the game, Minnesota had to turn to Mattison. The Vikings backup rusher only had four carries, but gained 22 yards on them. He added four catches on five targets for 51 yards. He totaled 73 yards in the game, the most of any WR or RB in the game.
  • Kyle Rudolph – tight end: It’s hard not to see why the Vikings love Rudolph. He has a great catch radius and can be an amazing target in the red zone. He put that ability on display again this week, showcasing an impressive snag for one of Minnesota’s two receiving touchdowns.
  • Laquon Treadwell – wide receiver: The second receiving touchdown of the day went to Treadwell, who snuck behind broken coverage by Seattle to catch a pass for a 58-yard score. Considering that one reception made him the team’s leading receiver in the game, it’s both impressive and a little disappointing.
  • C.J. Ham – fullback: First, since this is all measured on offense, Ham’s fumble on special teams doesn’t count here. He did quite well as a receiver, catching both passes thrown his way for 42 yards including one great 36-yard scamper.
