The worst thing

Coming into this game, the Vikings had to prepare for two things: the running game of the Seahawks and the improvisation of Russell Wilson. Sadly, neither of those gameplans seemed effective in the least.

The defense was torn up by Seattle’s running backs. Chris Carson gained 102 yards on 23 carries and Rashaad Penny had 15 carries for 74 yards, with each scoring a touchdown. Add in 13 rushing yards from Russell Wilson and a run on a fake punt for 29 yards, and you have 218 yards of damage done on the ground.

Of course, both Linval Joseph and Shamar Stephen were on the injury report this week but it took a combination of several interior defensive linemen to complete the game. The results of those substitutions were disappointing at best.

Minnesota will have a lot to work out before Week 14 when they take on the Detroit Lions to figure out how to stop the run. They have tough games against the Chargers, Packers, and Bears coming up, and each of those teams can gouge their opposition for many yards on the ground.
