During a back-and-forth game with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, who were the top Minnesota Vikings rookie performers?

On the road against a tough Seattle Seahawks team on Monday night, the Minnesota Vikings fought hard, but they just couldn’t come out with the win.

The Vikings were even up by seven points after the first half, but then they had a mistake-filled third quarter that put the Seahawks up by three scores. Kirk Cousins willed Minnesota back into the contest, but the team still came up a bit short in the end.

In the loss to Seattle, the Vikings had plenty of rookies who contributed. As usual, most of these players were on the offensive side of the ball. There were a couple of rookie defenders who saw some action for Minnesota this week, but only one accumulated any meaningful stats.

So let’s start with the players who didn’t contribute as much as others this week. On defense, Kris Boyd was active and he was often the first man down in punt coverage. He didn’t do anything more than that, but if Xavier Rhodes keeps playing the way he does, fans might be begging for the rookie corner to get inserted into the starting lineup.

On offense, rookie Vikings receiver Bisi Johnson had one of his worst games of the season. He only caught one pass for one yard and he dropped a ball he usually catches. Laquon Treadwell got more looks and appears to have potentially leapfrogged the rookie on the depth chart.

Rookie tight end Irv Smith Jr. had just one catch against the Seahawks as well and his went for just six yards. He took a huge hit at the end of it, but thankfully he popped right back up. Smith did see three targets come his way on Monday, including Kirk Cousins’ final pass attempt of the night that he just couldn’t haul in.
