Minnesota Vikings Draft 2020: Seven-round mock draft
By Zack Patraw
Robert Hunt – OL (Louisiana-Lafayette)
Adding depth the offensive line is always a must when looking at who the Vikings may potentially draft. Selecting Garrett Bradburry in the first round last year was an obvious move, but a great decision by Rick Spielman.
Minnesota drafted Dru Samia, who we have yet to see much of at all, in the fourth round and it was also a brilliant move. The Vikings’ offensive line needs talent and it needs depth. Each of which gets filled both last year and this year.
Robert Hunt has a chance this year to really improve his draft stock when he heads down to Mobile, Alabama to participate in the Senior Bowl in the near future. There are some tools that Hunt has that really catches your eye.
The first thing that jumps out at you is his size. This is a big dude! He’s 6-foot-5 and over 335-pounds and he looks all of it. He’s a big burly blocker that isn’t afraid of physicality. He plays both inside and outside, but his calling will be inside at the NFL level, but it’s good to have that kind of versatility on your offensive line.
He’s a people mover on the inside. He can move bodies and create space for his running back very well. He does it with such ease. The heart and effort is there with this kid. That is something general managers and Scout are going to fall in love with. Hunt plays 110 percent 100 percent of the time. He doesn’t stop his motor until that whistle blows.
In this draft, Minnesota has already drafted Trey Adams and moved him to starting left tackle which kicked Riley Reiff inside to guard and Pat Elflein to the bench. Drafting Hunt here won’t put him in a starting role right away, but he will be a good development type of player that will provide some much-needed depth on the Vikings’ offensive line.
