Hunter on a path to Canton
Back in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Vikings took a chance on a raw pass rusher in Danielle Hunter despite him only racking up a total of 4.5 sacks during his college career at LSU.
Five years into his pro career with Minnesota, Hunter is on track to not only be one of the greatest defensive ends in team history, but in NFL history as well.
Against the Lions on Sunday, the talented Vikings pass rusher finished with three sacks, bringing his season total to 12.5 sacks. With his performance against Detroit, Hunter now has 52.5 sacks since entering the league in 2015 and at just 25 years and 40 days old, he is the youngest player in NFL history to reach 50 career sacks.
The Minnesota pass rusher only needs six more sacks to set the all-time league record for the most sacks before turning 26-years-old. Judging by how Hunter has been terrorizing opposing quarterbacks recently, that record will likely be broken during the Vikings’ first few games of the 2020 season, if not earlier.
