The chances of the Minnesota Vikings entering the playoffs as the top seed in the NFC are small, but there is still a scenario in which it could actually happen.

During their history, the Minnesota Vikings have experienced some pretty crazy moments. Typically they’re on the wrong end of these moments, but sometimes things actually work out in favor of the Vikings (see Minneapolis Miracle).

With the three games left on their 2019 schedule, Minnesota will be hoping for a bunch of crazy events to take place in order for them to finish the season as the top seed in the NFC.

Yes, you read that correctly. The Vikings still have a chance to enter the playoffs as the NFC’s No. 1 seed and capture home-field advantage.

Even though Minnesota is currently sitting at No. 6 in the NFC postseason standings, they’re still only two games behind the top seed in the conference, the San Francisco 49ers. With three matchups left in the season, the Vikings’ last chance to close the gap on the top position in the NFC could be this week.

In order for Minnesota to even have a shot at getting the No. 1 seed in the conference, they need to win each of their final three games. If the Vikings lose just once, their chance at home-field advantage throughout the playoffs will vanish.

So how could Minnesota possibly finish the regular season as the top seed in the NFC? Let’s go ahead and explore the scenarios that would result in this outcome.
