Kirk Cousins – QB

Kirk Cousins being left off the NFC playoff roster is incredibly mind-boggling. Especially when you look at the quarterbacks from the conference who were actually selected to this season’s Pro Bowl.

Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees are the three passers who will represent the NFC during this year’s Pro Bowl. Wilson deserves zero objection for his selection, but Rodgers and Brees being included certainly raises some question marks.

For starters, Brees has only appeared in nine games this season. Yes, his performance in most of these matchups has been good. But why not give his spot on the NFC roster to someone like Cousins who has been on the field for every single one of the Vikings’ games this year?

As for Rodgers, he is behind Cousins in a number of important passing categories including completion percentage, yards, touchdowns, yards per attempt, passer rating, and QBR. Other than the fact that his name is Aaron Rodgers, how in the world is he more deserving of a Pro Bowl selection this year than the Minnesota quarterback?

In the end, however, maybe this will be good for Cousins. He seems to play a little better when he’s got a chip on his shoulder and this version of the Vikings quarterback could just decide to take his frustrations out on the rest of the NFC come playoff time.
