Britton Colquitt – P

For the second consecutive year, the Vikings, once again, cut their punter late in the preseason and brought in a veteran free agent. This year, Minnesota added Britton Colquitt after cutting Matt Wile and the move has paid dividends.

Colquitt has a booming leg and he has done a masterful job kicking the team out of some tough filed position. He is averaging 44.8 yards a punt and 22 of them have landed inside the opposing team’s 20-yard line.

For a punter, he brings a lot of energy to the team and he truly looks like he loves being part of this franchise.

Where Colquitt has really impressed is holding. He consistently puts the ball where it needs to be and is a big reason why Vikings kicker Dan Bailey is having such a good season. Bailey has gone from making around 75 percent of his field goal attempts to making 91.1 percent of them this season. He given Colquitt’s holding ability a ton of credit for his turnaround this year.

Colquitt signed a one year deal with the Vikings, but the team would be wise to go ahead and sign him up for a couple more. Not only are his punts impressive, but his positive impact on the kicking game has also helped Minnesota earn a few more wins than they did a season ago.
