Getting Touchdowns after Turnovers

The Vikings turned the Chargers over seven times last Sunday. It was long overdue for the Minnesota defense and it was a huge part of the team getting the win.

The turnovers put the Vikings in excellent field position numerous times and they were what ultimately allowed them to put the game away by the start of the fourth quarter.

Minnesota wasn’t able to convert all of those turnovers into touchdowns and they had to settle for field goals instead. Credit does have to be given to the Chargers defense for buckling down and defending a short field. But it would have been nice to see the Vikings convert most of their turnovers into touchdowns and score 50 points instead of 39.

Sure this is a nit-picky thing, but the best teams always try to improve no matter how small the issue.

If they are going to make any noise in this season’s playoffs, The Vikings will need to get six points off of turnovers and not settle for three. Kirk Cousins needs to seize opportunities, get a killer mentality, and use the gift of good field position to dagger his opponents by scoring touchdowns and putting games out of reach.
