4. Vikings get clobbered in the NFC Championship (2017)

Following their miraculous win over the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round of the 2017 playoffs, the Vikings found themselves one victory away from becoming the first team in NFL history to ever play in the Super Bowl on their home field.

All Minnesota had to do was go into Philadelphia and beat the Eagles in the NFC Championship. With the Eagles not having the services of starting quarterback Carson Wentz for the matchup, many liked the Vikings’ chances.

Things seemed to be heading in the right direction for Minnesota after their first offensive drive of the game too. The Vikings marched right down the field and found the end zone to take an early 7-0 lead.

Unfortunately, that would turn out to be the only points scored by Minnesota all night long. Philadelphia went on to shut down the Vikings’ offense and both teams went into the locker room at the half with the Eagles leading 24-7.

Things didn’t get any better for Minnesota in the second half as Philadelphia added 14 more points to their total and ended up leaving the field with a 38-7 victory.

As good and exciting as the Minneapolis Miracle was, a trip to the Super Bowl for the Vikings would have been even sweeter in 2017. Instead, Minnesota went back to their old habits and continued to disappoint their fan base with a terrible performance in the NFC Championship.
