Los Angeles Rams (8-6) at San Francisco 49ers (11-3)
- Time: 7:15 p.m. CT, Saturday
- Line: 49ers by 6.5 points
- Playoff Position: Los Angeles – 7th, San Francisco – 5th
Both teams enter the Saturday nightcap with something to play for as the 49ers are looking to make sure they don’t have to go to the NFC East champion as an 11-or-12 win team and the Rams are looking to make up a two-game deficit to sneak in the back door of the playoffs.
For the Vikings, they have an interest in both sides of this game. If the 49ers can take down the Rams, they’ll help Minnesota clinch a playoff spot, but probably lock them into the sixth seed in the playoffs even with wins in their final two games. If the Rams win, it knocks San Francisco closer to the Minnesota Vikings but also puts the pressure on to either beat Green Bay or the Chicago Bears in their final two games.
If there was a best-case scenario in this matchup, it would be a 49ers victory. Getting to the playoffs would be a step in the right direction after missing the field after a Week 17 dud last season. If San Francisco can rebound from their stunning loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week, they should be able to take advantage of a reeling Rams team to punch the Vikings’ ticket to the dance.
