Vikings failed to capitalize on turnovers again
During their win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15, Minnesota managed to force an impressive seven turnovers. The Vikings finished the game with 39 points, but only 13 of these came after their seven takeaways.
Considering the fact that Minnesota won last week’s matchup by 29 points, complaining about them not scoring more points of off turnovers may seem a bit nitpicky. But the Vikings’ inability to capitalize on turnovers ended up playing a big factor in their loss to the Packers on Monday.
During the very first drive of the game, Minnesota ended up forcing Green Bay to fumble the ball deep in their own territory and the Vikings’ offense began their night on the Packers’ 10-yard line. Despite Minnesota beginning their drive in a goal-line situation, they only managed to come away with a field goal.
Overall, the Vikings scored 10 points off of three Green Bay turnovers on Monday. This might have been fine against a team like the Chargers, but against the Packers, Minnesota needed to turn those takeaways into touchdowns.
Little did we know, the Vikings’ failure to get in the end zone on their first drive was just a preview of how poorly their offense would perform for the entire matchup.
