More good stuff

As stated earlier, the Vikings offense was horrific. While that’s something to talk about later, the lack of offensive firepower resulted in a lot of punts. Minnesota punted eight times during the game, and Britton Colquitt absolutely crushed each one by averaging 47.1 yards per punt and landed two inside the 20.

Here are some other good things to come out of Week 16 for the Minnesota Vikings:

  • Some big pass rushing. Fans of the Vikings expect Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen to attack opposing quarterbacks on a regular basis, but Ifeadi Odenigbo made a statement by getting two hits on Aaron Rodgers, including one sack, in a limited role. His value continues to rise.
  • Smothering and punishing. Trae Waynes is known as the team’s best tackling cornerback but this game saw Mackensie Alexander laying the wood on several occasions and making quite a few stops. He led the team with 11 takedowns, nine of those being solo, with one pass breakup.
  • Another week, another big play. Stefon Diggs may not have made a lot of plays in this game, but then again nobody on offense had massive games. Still, Diggs continues to put points on the board and move the chains. This time, it was a 21-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins along with a 28-yard reception that made him the game’s leading receiver.
