Dalvin Cook

We can’t have a list of the biggest gifts given to this season’s Vikings without mentioning the play of their Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook.

Cook has been a force this season, carrying the offense through the early portions of the year before it found its balance. He’s rushed for 1,135 yards with 13 touchdowns and he has also been a big part of the Vikings’ passing attack, as they use him frequently in the screen game. He’s tallied 519 yards on 53 receptions so far this season.

Sadly, Cook still couldn’t make it through the season injury-free. This year it wasn’t his ACL, but his chest and his shoulder. He apparently hurt his chest in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos. He then appeared to re-injure it against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13 and he really hasn’t been the same since, as the highest rushing total he’s had in a game is just 62 yards. Currently, he is dealing with a shoulder issue that is going to keep him out until the playoffs.

The Vikings need Cook in the lineup if they are going to make a deep postseason run this year. He is a dynamic playmaker on the ground and through the air who can change the outcome of a game on a single play.
