Boone will capitalize on his second career start
Although whatever eyes that tune into this game will be on Mannion, the focal point of the Vikings’ offense remains centered around the running game. Last week, Mike Boone received his first NFL start and promptly turned in a disappointing performance that accumulated 28 yards on 11 carries.
While the Packers’ run defense was a fine opportunity to take and run with it, the Bears defense hasn’t fared much better against the run this season with the absence of Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman. The starting duo in the middle of the Bears defensive line has been down for much of the season and that’s resulted in Chicago allowing 15 rushing touchdowns on the season (tied for eighth in the NFL).
This isn’t a gorgeous matchup for Boone, but it’s one where he should get all the work he can handle. Dalvin Cook has already been ruled out for the game and Alexander Mattison‘s ankle could probably use another week before getting ready for the playoffs. With Ameer Abdullah the only other back on the roster, Boone could capitalize and have a solid afternoon.
