Defensive MVP – Eric Wilson, linebacker

The Minnesota Vikings sat both Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks for this game, opening up opportunities for the backup linebackers to shine. Typically, Eric Wilson does a great job in these situations, and Week 17 was no different.

Wilson led the team with 12 tackles, seven of those being solo, two for a loss, and one sack. He was a key reason Minnesota was able to mostly contain the Chicago run game and keep the Bears out of the endzone while the offense couldn’t put together any drives.

What was even more impressive was how Wilson and Kentrell Brothers cleaned up. The duo combined for 22 of the team’s 84 tackles, meaning that at least one of that duo was responsible for over 26 percent of the ball-carrier takedowns for the purple and gold.

Again, to hammer this point home, it wasn’t the second-string offense of Chicago that Wilson was going up against. This was the Bears starters they were facing off with, and they more than held their own during the game.
