Original Pick:

Garrett Bradbury – C  (North Carolina State)

Re-draft:

Bradbury

Garrett Bradbury has had an up and down rookie season. He has, for the most part, been consistent with his run blocking. He is ultra-athletic and he can get down the field in a hurry to make key blocks at the second level. His play is a big reason why Dalvin Cook has had such a successful season running the football.

Bradbury has also been great on screens this year. The Vikings have utilized the screen game a lot this season and the rookie center is often one of the big men out in front leading the way. His extreme athletic ability allows him to get outside quickly and he is a beast when blocking in the open field.

Where Bradbury has struggled in 2019 is in pass protection. He has been mediocre at best this year with some truly awful performances.

He was especially horrendous in Minnesota’s Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers when he allowed multiple sacks. Bradbury needs to get much better in this area and he may have to bulk up. He’ll likely be hitting the weight room extra hard in the upcoming offseason to add strength and size to his frame.

During this re-draft, taking offensive tackle Andre Dillard was considered. Dillard has been pretty good for the Philadelphia Eagles this season and it would have given the Vikings the heir to Riley Reiff at left tackle.

That being said though, Minnesota is sticking with their center who was a 16-game starter this season. Bradbury showed plenty of potential in year one and with some work and dedication, he can come back much stronger for the Vikings in year two.
