Cook re-writes the Vikings record books
His first two with seasons with the Vikings didn’t go according to plan, but Dalvin Cook was able to stay on the field for most of this year and it resulted in him displaying his massive potential.
Many knew that Cook had the skills to develop into a special player one day, so his work this season likely wasn’t too surprising for some. All the young running back did in his third year with Minnesota was accumulate 1,654 yards from scrimmage (1,135 rushing, 519 receiving) and score 13 touchdowns.
His total yards this season are the most by a Vikings player since Adrian Peterson’s 1,707 in 2015 and Cook’s 53 catches are the most by a Minnesota running back since Moe Williams hauled in 65 passes in 2003.
With his versatility as both a rusher and a receiver out of the backfield, Cook has the potential to put up even more impressive numbers with the Vikings during the next few seasons and he’s going to do just that.
By the time his tenure with Minnesota comes to an end, Cook will own the team’s all-time records for career yards from scrimmage, career touchdowns, single-season receiving yards by a running back, and single-season touchdowns.
Not too bad for a guy who was drafted in the second round.
