More good stuff

Another great moment from this game came when an offensive play actually gained some yardage and found the end zone. Kirk Cousins connected with Stefon Diggs for a 41-yard touchdown where 49ers defender Ahkello Witherspoon fell down.

Aside from Diggs’ play and Kendricks’ efforts during the game, there wasn’t a lot to love about this Divisional Round playoff game. San Francisco dominated offensively and defensively, so celebrating the small victories is all Vikings fans have.

Here are some other good things to come out of the Divisional Round of the playoffs for the Minnesota Vikings:

  • Getting some field position. Ameer Abdullah did his best on kickoff returns to give the Vikings some good field position to start to their drives, and he did so on a couple of occasions. A 39-yard return was the highlight of his night, but Minnesota couldn’t do much with the yardage.
  • Linebacker tackles. Between Kendricks, Anthony Barr, and Eric Wilson, there were 26 total tackles. Considering the struggle of the defensive line to stop the run and limit yardage on receptions, it was good to see some level of the Vikings defense was getting the stops.
  • Punt it away now! Britton Colquitt once again did a great job holding. He also shined as a punter, kicking the ball away six times for 290 yards with three of them landing inside the 20-yard line. It’s never a good sign when your punter has almost double the yards of the offense (147).
  • Not much else. Seriously, this game was pretty brutal.
