Vikings Draft 2020: Offseason seven-round mock draft
By Zack Patraw
First Round (Pick No. 25)
Kenneth Murray – LB (Oklahoma)
This pick may not sit well with Vikings fans. There are clear needs that need to be filled, but this is the case of taking the best player available.
Minnesota has some solid linebackers already with Eric Kendricks, Anthony Barr, and Eric Wilson, but Kenneth Murray is a true game-changer on defense.
This year, Murray continued to progress even more at Oklahoma and he showed why he’s worthy of being taken with a first-round pick. In 14 games, he recorded 102 tackles, four sacks, and four pass breakups
He plays with tremendous speed for a linebacker and he also plays very patiently. He diagnoses plays extremely well and he executes his tackles. When opposing teams would runs screens, he’d be the first one their to make the play on the receiver. His sideline-to-sideline ability is phenomenal.
There may be other needs for the Vikings to fill, but landing Murray at the end of the first round feels like too much of a steal.
