Javon Kinlaw – DT (South Carolina)

Javon Kinlaw is another prospect that the Vikings may have to trade up to get in the draft as his 2019 play more than warrants a first-round selection when he became a major disruptor for the Gamecocks.

His athletic ability defies a recorded size of 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds and this was further reflected in Kinlaw’s six sacks, 35 total tackles, two pass breakups, and a pair of fumble recoveries.

His explosiveness on the line of scrimmage is truly exceptional, as is his ability to identify blocking schemes, make things happen for himself, and free up space for others around him.

Putting Kinlaw on a defensive line that also includes Danielle Hunter and possibly Everson Griffen and Linval Joseph would enable Minnesota to get pressure consistently and take significant pressure off of the much-maligned secondary.

Zimmer knows how important it is for his defense to rush the passer with just four or five guys and if Kinlaw is still available when they’re on the clock in the first round, then the Vikings should not hesitate in picking him up.
