3. Trae Waynes, cornerback

One of the best-tackling corners in the league, Trae Waynes is decent in coverage but really excels when it comes to limiting yards after the catch and being in run support. After five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, it looks almost impossible to keep him around.

Minnesota has Xavier Rhodes under contract through the 2022 NFL season, but otherwise the team doesn’t have a lot of quality cornerbacks signed for the next few years and that could spell trouble for the Vikings.

Minnesota’s defense prides itself on a combination of a strong pass rush and solid coverage to make things tough on opposing quarterbacks. Bringing back Waynes would not only allow for consistency on the roster but both fans and the team know exactly what to expect from him.

Odds are that Waynes will be priced out of Minnesota’s budget unless they can move a significant amount of money around and the team makes him a priority, but there are a couple of players the Vikings need to focus on bringing back first.
