10. Kentrell Brothers, linebacker

The linebacker grouping for the Minnesota Vikings is pretty deep. Eric Kendricks is coming off his best season as a pro while Anthony Barr played well and is locked down for several seasons to come. Both Eric Wilson and Ben Gedeon are set to return as well, so why should the Vikings bring back Kentrell Brothers?

His contributions are primarily going to be on special teams, where he is a solid performer. He should be able to earn a roster spot based on those abilities alone this offseason, even if it isn’t with Minnesota.

Brothers should be another inexpensive signing, which makes him appealing. However, the Vikings might be looking for a linebacker with more of a ceiling to develop into a potential starter or at least a quality defensive player.

Minnesota should be patient with Brothers developing as a defender but should take advantage of his contributions on special teams. As another signing that would cost nearly nothing against the salary cap, it would make sense to bring him back for 2020.
