Which Minnesota Vikings free agents should be a priority to re-sign?

5. Stephen Weatherly, defensive end

There is a real chance that the Minnesota Vikings might move on from Everson Griffen with the emergence of Ifeadi Odenigbo and the talent the team has on their roster at the position. One of those individuals who could be up for a bigger role if they can bring him back is Stephen Weatherly.

It’s hard to ignore Weatherly’s experience. He’s played in 49 games, starting seven of those, during his four seasons with the Vikings. In the past two seasons, he has notched three sacks in each campaign and had 59 combined tackles.

If the Vikings see a different position as a priority to upgrade on, Weatherly could stand in as a starter for Minnesota and play at a high level or even compete with Odenigbo for the spot opposite Danielle Hunter.

Last year, Weatherly earned a measly $720,000. If they can bring him back for even double that in 2020, it would be a bargain at the position and help to round out the roster without making a big investment.
