Upgrading the offensive line is going to be a priority for the Vikings this offseason. It’ll be interesting to see if they keep Riley Reiff at his current price, try to restructure, or flat-out release him. Either way, they need to bring in some young talent on the offensive line and why not look at the massive prospect from North Carolina named Charlie Heck.

Heck is huge standing 6-foot-7 and weighing in at 315 pounds. He’s got long, gangly arms that he uses to ward off defenders. H moves well for being so large and is able to get to the second level quickly, making blocks down the field. Heck could stand to get stronger, and may not possess the overall athleticism to be a left tackle in the NFL.

The Vikings can get a first-hand look at this kid down at the Senior Bowl and gauge for themselves how far away they think he is from contributing to their offensive line. If they plan on moving Brian O’Neil to left tackle next season,

Heck could be someone they consider taking and plugging in on the right side as a rookie. Heck at this point probably is a mid-Day 2 to early Day 3 type of prospect. How he plays against some elite competition at the Senior Bowl will give the Vikings a good idea if he strictly belongs on the right side, or if left tackle is an option some time down the road for him.
