Gary Kubiak’s influence on the Minnesota Vikings during the 2019 season has earned him a promotion for 2020, according to a recent report.

Gary Kubiak has reportedly been chosen by Mike Zimmer to replace new Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski as offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings according to a report on Thursday.

This was an important move by the Vikings, especially when one considers the team’s need for a new defensive coordinator and the uncertainty surrounding a large number of senior roster members this offseason.

Kubiak is thought to have played a significant role in the upward curve of Minnesota’s fortunes on the field during the 2019 campaign in his role as assistant head coach and offensive advisor. With his help, the Vikings were able to secure the NFC’s No. 6 seed this season and earn a monumental playoff victory over the New Orleans Saints before eventually bowing out in disappointing fashion at the San Francisco 49ers.

The 58-year-old enjoyed an eight-year professional career as a quarterback with the Denver Broncos before turning his hand to coaching and rising from a running backs coach at Texas A&M to multiple head coaching roles and coordinator positions in the NFL.

This experience will be useful as he prepares to embark on a new but somewhat familiar role. With three Super Bowl rings in his collection, there is no doubt Kubiak will command the respect of a vastly talented Minnesota offense led by quarterback Kirk Cousins and running back Dalvin Cook.

So let’s dive in deeper and go over three reasons why Kubiak is the right man to lead the Vikings offense in 2020.
