First Round (Pick No. 25)

Trevon Diggs – CB (Alabama)

This has been a pretty common projection for the Vikings in the first round this year. Trevon Diggs was a standout cornerback for Alabama in 2019 and he has the tools to be a stud in the NFL.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound cornerback is physical, he has downfield speed, and his ball skills are top-notch for a collegiate defender.

As Minnesota looks to reshape the secondary this offseason, they need to find young talent in the draft that fits what Mike Zimmer wants. Luckily for them, Diggs has size, speed, a physical mindset at the line of scrimmage, and he is not afraid to tackle in space and help in run support.

The obvious influence here is that Trevon would be in the same locker room as his brother. Assuming Stefon Diggs returns in 2020, the Vikings could pair up the two brothers for the future. Stefon would make his younger brother better in practice every single day and Minnesota would be heading in the right direction on defense.

I am a huge fan of Trevon Diggs and I probably have him ranked a little higher than most others right now. His length and ability to interrupt routes make him a very likable corner.

His size and athleticism stand out on tape. However, Diggs tends to gamble because he knows just how athletically gifted he is and that can hurt him at times. If he is coached up in the NFL, he has the potential to be a lockdown defender.

Diggs will be able to hold his own down the field and limit deep shots on his side of the field. When the Vikings are on the clock this year, hopefully Diggs is still on the board.
