Fourth Round (Pick No. 122)

Michael Pittman Jr. – WR (USC)

Last season, the Vikings ran into some depth issues at wide receiver. They lost Chad Beebe early in the year and they had to go out and sign both Laquon Treadwell and Josh Doctson. Neither did much of anything and thankfully seventh-round rookie Bisi Johnson rose to the occasion and claimed the No. 3 receiver job.

Both Treadwell and Doctson aren’t likely to return to Minnesota in 2020 and Beebe isn’t a lock to make the roster either, as he was far from impressive in the opportunities he got last season. The Vikings need to get more talent in their wide receiver corps and thankfully for them, this year’s draft pool features a very deep receiver class.

In most years, a player with the talent of Michael Pittman Jr. is probably selected in the second round. This year, he will likely get pushed down the board a bit and Minnesota can reap the benefits.

Pittman is exactly what the Vikings need in their wide receiving corps. He’s a big, physical target who can go up and outmuscle a defender for the football. He’d be an excellent red-zone target for Kirk Cousins as he can make tough grabs in traffic.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Pittman isn’t a burner, but he does have deceptive speed. His route running could also use some fine-tuning, but he can learn from watching both Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen every day in practice.
