Sixth Round (Pick No. 186)

Shyheim Carter – CB/S (Alabama)

The Vikings will look to continue to build depth in their secondary in the sixth round with this versatile defensive back out of Alabama.

Shyheim Carter was kind of a do-all player for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide during his college career as he spent some time at slot corner and both safety positions. He has the speed to cover a lot of territory in a hurry and he can deliver some pretty big hits.

Carter’s versatility is exactly what Minnesota needs as he can provide depth at both safety and corner.

With the Vikings’ secondary potentially being decimated by free agency as Anthony Harris, Jayron Kearse, and Andrew Sendejo could all be gone this year in addition to corners Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, and Mackensie Alexander, Carter not only could make the active 53-man roster in 2020, but he could see significant playing time as a rookie.
