1. Anthony Harris, safety

The last two seasons have seen Anthony Harris explode onto the scene and not only earn a starting job with the Minnesota Vikings but see him place at or near the top of Pro Football Focus’ player ranking for both campaigns.

At only 28 years old, there will be a massive market for the young safety and the bidding war could get quite intense. Since the Vikings don’t have a lot of money to work with in the first place, this presents a major challenge.

Spotrac’s projection for Harris’ value is eye-opening. They believe he is in line for an annual salary of approximately $13.8 million and will get a deal for 5 years that totals over $69 million. That’s a lot of moolah!

Since Over the Cap estimates the franchise tag value of a safety to be $12,474,000, it might actually be cheaper to give Harris the tag instead of paying him what market value could be for his play going forward. However, that would mean that the Vikings would need to clear a lot of cap space to be able to afford to keep him around.
