6 free-agent quarterbacks the Vikings could sign in 2020

Chad Henne
Chad Henne has been in the NFL for what seems like forever. He entered the league back in 2008 with the Miami Dolphins. He became the Dolphins starting quarterback in his second year and he then hung around for the remainder of his rookie deal.
Henne then spent six seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and was their starter for the first couple of years before settling into the backup role. Recently, Henne was a member of the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs as the third quarterback on their depth chart.
He has good size at 6-foot-3 and 222 pounds and he has thrown for 12,960 yards in his career with 58 touchdowns. Henne does have more career interceptions with 63, so his decision making is clearly a concern.
The biggest advantage of having him as a backup is just his overall experience. The guy has been in the league for 12 seasons and it is basically like having another coach out on the field. There isn’t much a defense could throw at him that he probably hasn’t already seen before.
The negatives that Henne brings, other than his propensity to throw the ball to the wrong team, would be his lack of mobility. He is basically a statue in the pocket and behind the Vikings’ current offensive line, he could get destroyed.
Henne wouldn’t cost much and the biggest question would be if he wants actually to play another season or not. If he does, finishing up in Minnesota with a team that should be a contender inside a beautiful stadium could be very tempting.
