The Minnesota Vikings had several alumni take the field in the opening week of the XFL. Which ones had the most impressive performances?
Like most teams around the league, the Minnesota Vikings have a ton of high-quality talent on their roster. With only 53 players making the final cut though, it’s hard to remember sometimes that it’s difficult to wind up on an NFL roster and that even the guys who are sent out the door are still very good at football.
Because only the elite gets to suit up and play on Sundays, there have been several alternatives to the NFL that have started up over the years, but nothing has had very much staying power.
The latest attempt has been the revival of the XFL, which began play last weekend with eight teams across the nation and a concept called “Team 9” that serves as a preferred pool of players for teams to add to their rosters.
Add it all up and it serves as an opportunity for some who aren’t able to crack the Vikings roster to showcase their abilities and perhaps land another crack at an NFL roster in 2020.
For Minnesota, they had 11 former players take the field in the opening weekend of the XFL and they all had varying results. We’ll look at which players had the best performances and see who could be a future star as the league continues to play out in the coming weeks.
