Antoine Winfield Jr. – DB (Minnesota)

The Vikings would love to land Antoine Winfield Jr. in the 2020 NFL Draft. Not only would the versatile playmaker be a huge help to Minnesota’s revamped secondary, but he’d be an instant star.

Winfield is the son of Vikings legend Antoine Winfield and he is also a former Minnesota Golden Gopher who played a huge part in their Outback Bowl-winning season. The issue is that taking him at pick No. 25 is probably too high and if they wait until pick No. 57 in the second round, he could be long gone by then.

If the Vikings trade down and acquire an earlier second-round pick, then that would put them in a prime spot to land Winfield. As mentioned briefly above, Winfield is a playmaker. This guy has natural football instincts and he always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

He not only can play safety, but his man-to-man coverage skills are so good he could also play some nickel corner. The biggest knock on him will be his size. He’s only 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds soaking wet, but his father wasn’t any bigger and he had a long and productive NFL career.

Winfield would be a player who could come in and have a role in Minnesota’s defense from day One. He’s got the talent, instincts, versatility, and bloodline to be an impact player at the pro level.
