Artie Burns

Artie Burns is a guy the Vikings could find at a good price and one they might be willing to take a chance on.

Burns is a former first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers who never quite lived up to that billing. His career numbers are okay as he’s accumulated 149 total tackles, 27 pass breakups, and four interceptions.

Burns has plenty of experience having started in 32 games in his NFL career. But for whatever reason, he just hasn’t blossomed into the shutdown corner Pittsburgh thought they were getting when they drafted him.

Burns has the physical tools to succeed. He’s 6-feet and 197 pounds. He still has good speed and his overall technique is solid. Burns also has experience on special teams and can help out there.

This may just be a case of him needing a fresh start with a new team in a new city. Things just didn’t work out for him with the Steelers.

Burns should come at a decent price since his overall career numbers don’t scream huge contract. He’s still only 24-years-old, so there is plenty of football left in his body.

He has some of the most upside of any cornerback on the free-agent market this offseason and he could be a guy who pays dividends for the team that is willing to take a chance on him.
